Mini olive rocotos are one of the best Pubescens out there. On the smaller size, they are less fussy than most other rocoto plants, and somewhat easier to grow. Stunning deep purple flowers. They do still prefer cooler weather (they will not tolerate full sun in 90F+ heat). It is a bit tricky to tell when they're ripe, but they do slightly change from dark green to an olive green. They also fall right off the calyx when ripe. The flesh should be a yellowish color and seeds are black. Heat is typical rocoto level at around 100k SHU, and the juicy/fleshy flavor is nothing like any of the other species. Fantastic for salsa and sauces.
